Abstract
In the Summer of 2013 Makerbot Mechanic was added to a public librarian's long list of "other assigned duties not taught in library school". Halifax Public Libraries received a 3D printer from the Nova Scotia Community Access Program, and a perilous combination of enthusiasm and naivety inspired me to take it on the road to our 14 branches. Narrating this adventure provides an aperture for exploring the evolving expectations of librarianship precipitated by emerging technologies.
