Abstract

The Harris Centre’s twenty-fifth Regional Workshop was held on May 22, 2014 in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador. Planning partners included:  Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development  Office of Public Engagement - Rural Secretariat  St. Barbe Development Association  Town of Anchor Point  Town of St. Anthony This workshop had two main goals: 1) promote Memorial University as a resource for regional policy and development throughout the province, and 2) stimulate discussion to generate future opportunities or research questions from the region. To facilitate this, participants aimed to identify opportunities for future collaboration in the areas of research, teaching and outreach within the region, between Memorial University and community stakeholders. The ‘Regional Workshop’ was held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 8:30am to 2:30pm at the Haven Inn in St. Anthony (see Appendix A for the Agenda). Forty people attended the workshop, and attendees included fifteen faculty, graduate students and staff from Memorial University, and twenty-five others from the Great Northern Peninsula, including businesses; municipal, provincial and federal government; community-based organizations; educational institutions; etc.
