Abstract

In this study, we present a theoretical overview of the reading of new ruralities, drawing on Anthropological and other Social Science research in peasant studies and rural studies. Considering rurality from a historical perspective and viewing it within the context of processes of sociocultural urbanization, we examine the purpose and meanings of rural transformations by taking into account the heterogeneity of the social agents involved and analysing the new revitalization of these spaces.
