Abstract
Introduction by: Barbara Gottlieb, CCPH Chair Emeritus PNHHC was a 10 Year community-university and public agency partnership. PNHHC conducted two, federally funded Community-based participatory research (CBPR) projects around the issues of childhood lead poisoning prevention and the developmental effects of lead exposure. Currently, Susan is a co-guide with her university research partner for a CBPR course involving community partners and graduate students at the University of Minnesota. She served for seven years on the Board of Community-Campus Partnerships for Health and is also a community peer reviewer for the CCPH’s CES4Health.info. Susan is a community activist and small business owner of a 37-year-old construction management, consulting, and community development company. Through her business, she is a facility manager of a 119-year old building that houses a family violence prevention program. One of her several entrepreneurial ventures was to found a reusable building materials store with a focus on job creation and home improvement education. She was a 2003-2004 University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute Public Policy Fellow. Her local civic responsibilities include: Cultural Wellness Center’s Law and Policy Committee, the Backyard Initiative’s Community Commission on Health, which is co-sponsered by Allina Health and the community.
