Abstract
Building flexible, lightweight software that relies on interoperability between both local and cloud-based services is an increasingly important element in providing access to data and services. This demonstration will show how an open-source project designed for MARC records can be extended to support other metadata schemas and encodings, and how it can hook into a proprietary knowledge-base in the cloud. This practical application will be used to demonstrate some of the principles outlined in Lorcan Dempsey's 2012 article "Thirteen Ways of Looking at Libraries, Discovery, and the Catalog: Scale, Workflow, Attention".
