Abstract
Employment-Related Geographical Mobility (E-RGM) in the PEI Trucking Industry is part of the national project entitled, On the Move Partnership: Employment-Related Geographical Mobility in the Canadian Context. The purpose of this study is to learn more about how truck drivers and companies operating out of PEI and are affected by employment-related mobility (and how this has changed over time). To this end semi-structured interviews were conducted with truck drivers and owners/company representatives about the impact of employment-related mobility on experiences in the industry, families and their immediate communities. The study also sought to investigate policies that affected recruitment and retention of truck drivers and the trucking sector generally in PEI.
